I recently visited Animal Liberation Kitchen for high tea. While the food was tasty—thank you for that—the overall experience was disappointing. at least the food was good...... food 5. service 1 atmosphere 1. the google is lying. not 5. The tea service was uneventful, with no premium tea options or storyboards that often accompany high tea. The teapot was small and inadequate, especially compared to the proper teapots provided to others nearby. If you're booking guests by reservation, this shouldn't happen. The water temperature was not hot enough, and despite requesting hotter water multiple times, it never arrived. I had to pour only one small cup at a time and wait, which diminished the experience. I also had to ask for more sugar four times. The cups and plates were greasy, and we had to clean them ourselves before use. Instead of proper napkins, we were given hard, crispy bathroom paper towels. To make matters worse, we were seated in a hallway with screaming kids and even a dog, with no supervision or attempts to maintain a peaceful atmosphere. The noise was so overwhelming that I couldn’t chat with my friend or hear the jazz music playing in the background. The staff also seemed unprepared and untrained. They couldn't articulate the menu clearly, and when we questioned the addition of HST—which had supposedly just started that day—they argued with us instead of handling the matter professionally. Additionally, there was poor table management. After one particularly loud family left, no one flipped the table for new guests or addressed the chaos caused by their child having a meltdown. It’s the staff's responsibility to create a calm atmosphere, but they failed to do so. Lastly, part of high tea service is the presentation and attentiveness. The first cup of tea should be poured for the guest, but that didn’t happen either. Overall, the lack of attention to detail and poor service made this experience far from enjoyable. thank you for ruining my first high tea non-service.

We made a rare trip into TO on the weekend and decided to take advantage of being there and looked for an all-vegan restaurant for Sunday Brunch. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! The staff were all so very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic! We enjoyed the Eggs Benny on a croissant and the Jackfruit Shwarma. Our friends let us taste the Smoky Vegan Mac & Cheese they ordered too. As you can see from the photo, our plate was very colourful and enticing. We enjoyed our brunch so much we ordered a smoked "meat" sandwich and an almond croissant to go and they were both incredible! Thank you ALK for such a delicious brunch!

What a charming little vegan cafe! Stopped in while visiting the Distillery district & wanted vegan brunch! The vegan breakfast croissant sandwich was to DIE for! Super flakey & fresh with a decent amount of vegan egg & bacon! YUM! They had a nice day up of tables in the large hallway & it was very laid back & quiet.

Highly recommend booking the High Tea on Saturdays! A great variety of sweet and savory foods (chocolate hazelnut and baklava croissants not pictured) - everything is delicious (and priced fairly), especially the flaky croissants! The owners are so nice too :)

What a lovely spot! Great for popping in when on the go, and they also have seating available on weekends. I came for a partnered bake sale event with proceeds going to animals in Palestine which was great. The space gets a lot of light and the service is great. I know Sonit, who works here, and he’s wonderful! I got the egg, bacon, and cheese breakfast croissant which was delicious. Their croissants are as good as people say. Their hot chocolate was flavoured well but needed to be blended a bit more to dissolve it fully! The coffee was great, though.
