I recently visited Ben & Esther’s Vegan Delicatessen, a delightful small vegan bagel and sandwich shop. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me pick a fantastic sandwich—their Reuben. The wait was not long at all. The service was quick, and there was plenty of seating available. The sandwich itself was flavorful and satisfying. Plus I can only image what all the other options tasted like. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a quick bite while in the area.

Stumbled upon this little vegan Jewish deli in the cutest neighborhood and decided to give it a try. Walked in and it was super cute and easy/quick to order, though we got there closer to 10:30 so a lot of the bagel options were gone (which I’m assuming is a good thing for the restaurant). No matter though, I got the RZA breakfast sandwich (bacon egg and cheese) on a garlic bagel and a side of the loaded potato salad with bacon and a hint of spice. Both food items were absolutely delicious, especially the breakfast sandwich, which was hot even after I waited 15 minutes to eat it! I got the combo, which came with a drink so I got the liquid death sparkling water, which was refreshing, but next time I want to try their coffee. Overall I highly recommend and will definitely plan to come back here, perhaps on this trip or a future trip to Portland. Thanks, Ben and Esther’s!

We are from Brooklyn NY and came here and had the rza, the veggie, and latkes. Everything was delicious. The bagels are as close as you can get to to Brooklyn bagels without being in Brooklyn! No step to enter. Large single stall gender neutral ADA restroom.

Cute little delicatessen in Portland. As someone who I vegan, I tend to seek out all plant based restaurants when I travel, and this one was a must. Freshly made bagels, someone the best plant based toppings I’ve had, I’m currently craving this while back home. I got a classic egg, cheese, and bacon on a sesame bagel. It was DELICIOUS. Even if you aren’t vegan, you would enjoy this. Super friendly staff, quick service, a few tables inside, but also great for takeout and on the go. Highly recommend!

It feels like every time I'm in Portland, I find myself at Ben & Esther's deli. I literally crave the BLT + extra bacon. Most recently, I tried their MAC SALAD and it teleported me back to when I would have my dad's non-vegan Hawaiian mac. Things have changed since then, but the feelings that I feel when I eat the mac salad is like my father never passed away 🥹🥺 I feel warm and fuzzy inside. I highly recommend ordering it by the pound so you can have some now and a few hours later 😂 Thanks for what you all do!
