One of my favourite places to eat at in the city. Vegetarian lasagna is delicious and the choice of salads perfect. Definitely well worth the walk up the stairs to get there. Friendly and good staff. Would definitely recommend.

I loved everything, the restaurant looks nice and the menu has plenty of options. I had the vegan lasagna, 2 different salads and dessert. It was delicious and affordable. Very friendly service, and I was grateful to be in the home of Hare Krishna 🫶💖

Went in on a Tuesday for lunch. It’s a bit hidden with just a staircase off Swanson st leading upstairs and for lunch, there is usually a line to be served but it moves relatively quickly. The platter is the best value with 2 curries, rice, 2 salads and you can add a samosa or roti for extra. It then comes with a pudding dessert and a lemonade or lassi. All for $13! You get a tray to put that all on and then find a spot to sit. The food is delicious and it’s a great spot for cheap and cheerful vegetarian cuisine. Highly recommend.

Wow!!! Great meal at a great price. This is a real hidden gem. I’ve walked past so many times but never gone up those steps. If you have mobility problems, then this is a massive challenge, but if steps are your friend’s then make the effort. The food is crazy good and crazily low priced. I tried their curries and the as a takeaway, got a filo pastry, croquette and a samosa. Everything is well worth the 5 stars. Looking forward to going back to try their lasagna and cottage pie.

Gopal serves mainly vegan food, except for the spinach cheese pie and one other pie. It is located in town therefore walkable within the CBD and accessible by tram. Walk up to the 1st floor. Choose your dishes (looks to me more South Indian) and salads. Ours came up to AUD 47 for 3 pax. Dogs are allowed in as we saw a large German Shepherd at another patron's table. The staff are polite. The food is not much oily which is fantastic as I am more accustomed to oily Indian food in Singapore and Malaysia; not salty too. My friend loved the samosa, and I liked that there's liberal use of legumes (kidney bean, chickpeas, chana/lentils), vegetables (beetroot, greens), potatoes, tofu in the curries and salads. Vegan nut cheese is used in the lasagna. Definitely worth a visit, value for money.
