We enjoyed our lunch at Walk the Wok. I had the wonton soup with noodles, and my lunch companions had Golden Beauty and Mapo Tofu. Their dishes were spicy, while I requested not spicy. Mine had a much more subtle flavor with a lot of fresh veggies. It was a cold rainy day and the restaurant was a bit chilly. Service was polite but not very speedy. Go there when you’re not in a rush. I’m glad we have a vegan Chinese option in Portland!

Best vegan soup I’ve ever eaten!! All the food is delicious and very tasty 😋 Here on a vegan foodie tour of Portland so only making single visits to restaurants, but this place got a return visit…

I ordered the mapo tofu and the golden wontons at around 2pm. The service was excellent — attentive and very friendly. 10/10. The golden wantons came out piping hot and crunchy. They were filled with a sort of herby, green-oniony soy paste and a mild sauce for dipping. They were good. 6/10. The “mapo tofu” was very different from the typical mapo tofu one may be used to — I’m referring to it as “sriracha fried tofu” in my head. The tofu was crispy and fried and smothered in a very chili/sriracha tasting sauce. Served with peas and carrots and a mockmeat that approximates chopped up hotdogs. Not quite what I was expecting, but still spicy and enjoyable. 6/10. The menu was noticeably smaller than other loving hut locations I’ve been to. The TV was off and not playing the typical culty broadcast. Overall, I left happy and with cleared sinuses. I’ll probably come back at some point.

Delicious food with homemade sauces and plant-based proteins. Veggies were perfect- crisp tender. Best General Tso’s I’ve had in 27 years. Quick service and a lovely staff.
